Congressional leaders reach short-term spending deal


Congressional leaders have reached a short-term spending deal that will
keep the federal goverment running for six months when the fiscal year ends on Sept. 30, averting a messy budget fight weeks before the election, Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) announced Tuesday.
