Obama Holds First Cabinet Meeting Since January
Mark Simone, filling in for Sean today, was incredulous when his found out early this afternoon that President Obama had held his FIRST cabinet meeting in seven months. So it appears, like the president's jobs council, his cabinet has been focusing on jobs. Daniel Halper from the Weekly Standard summed it up well in an article he posted today. "Like the jobs council, the president hasn't held a cabinet meeting in over the last six months," Halper wrote. "I bet when Steve Jobs was running Apple he had a meeting every 15 minutes! I know that a complaint many employees had was that Jones would sometimes call them at 3 o'clock in the morning! His first meeting in nearly seven months?" said Simone. The New Crisis in American Politics
Author Doug Schoen joined Mark Simone in the second hour of the show to discuss his new book, " Hopelessly Divided: The New Crisis in American Politics and What it Means for 2012 and Beyond." Just in time for the 2012 election, Schoen analyzes the growing void between the political class politicians, lobbyists, fundraisers, consultants and the American Mainstream, frustrated with government's inability to address the major issues effecting their lives. Mark and Doug discussed the issues facing our nation and how these problems have polarization and divided our political system as well as America. "Hopelessly Divided" is the definitive work explaining why America has become so polarized and it offers a real world assessment of what we need to do to fix our politics. Sean and Mark Simone both highly recommend it and it has been selected as July's book of the month. To read more about Schoen's new book or to pick up your own copy, please click here.
Eric Cantor Takes On Bush Tax Cut Controversy
If President Obama and Senate Democrats had their way, the taxes of small business owners and job creators all across America would be on the rise. On Wednesday, without the support of a single Republican, Democrats voted to ram their proposal right through the Senate. And that was moments after Majority Leader Harry Reid successfully killed the GOP plan that would have extend the Bush-era tax cuts for everybody that pays taxes. So, what does this mean for you, your families and your employers? If Democrats remain hell-bent on raising taxes on people who actually stimulate the economy and create jobs, and an agreement is not made before January 1st, taxes will go up on each and every American. While 'taxmageddon' approaches back home, Governor Mitt Romney was at Ten Downing Street in London visiting with British Prime Minister David Cameron. Tonight, Romney will be on hand for the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and then he will head to a place that President Obama has nev er found the time to visit while in office - Israel. Sean was joined by the House Majority Leader, Congressman Eric Cantor with a preview of that trip and some insight into the tax debate that is now raging in Washington. You can watch Sean's entire conversation with Congressman Cantor by clicking here.

Obama wrong on assault weapons - critical_thinker

Obama made a statement last night that Ak-47's belong in the hands of soldiers not criminals. I agree on the surface but I disagree when he says that they only belong in the hands of soldiers. First off, our troops don't typically use AK's although that is a fine weapon. Second, I personally have no problem with assault rifles provided that they don't get in the hands of crazy people. Romney said that assault rifles are only for killing a while back and that is wrong.
