Big Gulps Out, Big Government In
Tuesday, September 25th | |
Last week The New York City Board of Health approved Mayor Michael Bloomberg's much maligned " sugary drink regulation," banning the sale of beverages larger than 16-ounces in restaurants, movie theaters, and food carts. "I'm really frustrated," said Sean. "If you live in NY you can't get a Big Gulp because of Nanny Bloomberg. The government knows best apparently," Sean said sarcastically. It was also discovered yesterday by The New York Post that the Department of Education is giving morning-after pills and other birth-control drugs to students at 13 NYC high schools. So to recap, you can't buy a Big Gulp but your children can receive free birth control from their schools. "I assume we the tax payer are going to be footing the bill on this too?" Sean asked incredulously. Radicals! Author David Horowitz joined Sean in the show's final hour to discuss his new book, "Radicals: Portraits of a destructive passion." "Radical liberals want to make America a better place, but their utopian social engineering leads, ironically, to greater human suffering," Horowitz explained. A former liberal himself, Horowitz recounts his own brushes with radicalism and offers unparalleled insight into the disjointed ideology of liberal elites through case studies of well-known radial leftists, including Christopher Hitchens, feminist Bettina Aptheker, leftist academic Cornel West, and more. Horowitz explores the origin and evolution of radical liberals and their progressive ideology. Radicals illustrates how liberalism is not only intellectually crippling for its followers, but devastating to society as a whole. For more on Horowitz's new book, please click here. |
Roseanne Barr For President? Sean was joined by the Peace and Freedom Party's 2012 presidential nominee, the author of " Roseannearchy: Dispatches From the Nut Farm," Roseanne Barr. Roseanne explained her run for president was no joke. "I'm very, very serious. I say I'm the only serious comedian in the presidential race. And I'd like to take this opportunity to ask both Romney and Obama to debate me. Because I think that both of those guys -- I think that the American people are being given a false choice, because the choice between the lesser of two evils is a false choice. It's not an actual choice," Barr told Sean. "I think that Peace and Freedom and solutions, economic solutions, that -- that involve investment in our own country first are the things that I offer and that I want to talk about. I'm running on the Peace and Freedom Party, and part of - - I do think we do need a little bit more socialism in this country this time. We need to move stuff from the top to the middle and the bottom, because it keeps on staying at the top. How you build the middle class is bring stuff from the top down to the middle. And people deserve something back for the taxes they pay."
