House GOP leaders scrap scheduled vote on 'Plan B'

House Republican leaders on Thursday night scrapped a planned vote on Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) fiscal cliff "Plan B" measure as it became clear they did not have enough support from members of their own party.

In a statement, Boehner said that the House did not take up the measure "because it did not have sufficient support from our members to pass."

"Now it is up to the president to work with Senator Reid on legislation to avert the fiscal cliff," he said. "The House has already passed legislation to stop all of the January 1 tax rate increases and replace the sequester with responsible spending cuts that will begin to address our nation's crippling debt. The Senate must now act."

The move leaves unclear the next step in the negotiations over the fiscal cliff.
