Breaking News

June 28, 2013

Today, House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa, has announced that Lois Lerner will be compelled to testify before the committee. Lerner had taken the Fifth Amendment in her previous appearance before the Committee, refusing to answer any questions regarding her involvement, or that of officials in Washington, in the IRS scandal. National Review's Eliana Johnson, who has been dissecting the IRS scandal, has the news.

Also breaking today, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is making the most of this lazy Friday before Independence Day, hoping that most Americans will miss the administration's stubborn doubling-down on insisting religious organizations violate their firmly held beliefs about abortion and contraception. Kathryn Lopez has more on the continuing religious-liberty threat.

And check back later today for Mark Steyn's weekly column — available only at National Review. Here is Mark's column from last week, in case you missed it.

Expect more on both these stories, and more over the weekend, on the Corner.

Have a good weekend.
