Senate Immigration Vote Imminent

By the end of the week we will likely have a vote on immigration reform in the Senate. Washington is desperate to get it done before their upcoming vacation. I think this is a mistake. There is no need to rush this issue through. The only reason I can really come up with is that they want to get it done quickly so as to avoid a groundswell of criticism and and anger that could possibly mount if the issue sits out there long enough. The so-called "Border Surge" amendment passed the Senate with almost 70 votes. After a procedural vote, it's possible that the Senate could vote on the bill as early as tonight or tomorrow. Then it's the House's turn...( more) Liberal Groups Weren't Targeted by IRS like Tea Party Despite the narrative that Democrats and liberals are trying to push, the IRS did not target liberal or progressive groups like it did conservative or Tea Party groups. This was confirmed in a letter this week from IRS Inspector General Russell George. In a letter to Democratic Rep. Sandy Levin, George wrote the following: "Our audit did not find evidence that the IRS used the "progressives" identifier as selection criteria for potential political cases between May 2010 and May 2012." Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah is the vice president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, a group which reportedly supports Hamas. The United States considers Hamas to be a terrorist organization. This group, the International Union of Muslim Scholars, was founded by Egyptian cleric Yusuf Qaradawi, who is a leader in the Muslim Brotherhood and banned from entering the United States. If you will recall, the Muslim Brotherhood has called for the death of Jews and Americans serving in Iraq. News of Bin Bayyah's visit to the White House was made public on his website. The nature of the meeting was said to be about arming the rebels in Syria.
