FROM THE GUNSMITH'S BENCH Erik Winter, Gunsmith Dimpled Primers After Chambering Occasionally a customer contacts me with concerns about primers being slightly dimpled upon chambering a round. This is completely normal and is a characteristic of all basic AR15/M16 rifles. The firing pin in an AR15 is free floating inside its chamber. The forward inertia of the bolt upon chambering a round causes the firing pin to bounce forward with just enough force to leave a small mark on the primer. This is never enough force to cause a slam fire in an AR15 though. I do recommend rotating the rounds though when un-chambering and re-chambering rounds frequently. And as always have the rifle pointed in a safe direction at all times. Examples of live rounds that have been chambered, then cleared without firing. Note dimple marks in primers. |
CUSTOMER SERVICE CORNER Cheryl Eliason, Customer Service Manager We receive a variety of customer service related questions from our customers, and in order to better serve all of you, highlight one question each month. This month's question is: What are the high wear parts of an AR15 type rifle? Answer: The items that see the most wear in an AR15 type rifle are located in the bolt carrier group and fire control group. They are the extractor, extractor spring and insert, gas rings, ejector, ejector spring, disconnector, disconnector spring and the hammer and trigger springs. These parts see use every time the rifle is fired and will wear over time. Although these parts will be serviceable for several thousand rounds, many people replace the extractor related parts and the gas rings every 1,500 to 2,000 rounds as part of a preventative maintenance schedule. All of these items are available individually from our website and we also offer a Field Repair Kit for $34.95 that contains most of these items. Buy it Now |

| | | | | FROM THE EDITOR Karen Fogarty, Asst. to VP Sales & Marketing CUSTOMER FEEDBACK ************************************************************************* Dear Windham Weaponry, Unbelievable. I am amazed at the extreme accuracy I have experienced with my first rifle from your team. As an ole SF team member of the Tenth Group you can imagine my appreciation for quality, durability and of course functionality. While at the range and with the lead sled I proceeded to sight in a new optic and found shot groups so tight others took fast note. Using a Winchester lot run I found round placement within a dime at 500 yards at our local range. To our amazement, we first thought they were totally off paper, then come to find at that range I was shooting within previously shot holes. At 500 yards my pattern showed with a 30 round magazine, I had to expand my target as dime size holes where created with less than 10 rounds. To everyones amazement, everyone at the range asked to shoot my Windham Rifle. I absolutely love this new Windham Weaponry AR 15 .223. It has amazing accuracy right out of the box. You guys and gals are doing it right. I'm now going after yet another fine rifle from your company. Thank you. Sam B. "DOL" ************************************************************************* Hey guys, Love my rifle - I'll never buy an AR from another company. Thanks for making this skeptical buyer a believer. Jesse G. ************************************************************************* I really love my Windham, I have owned the SRC model for a little over a year and I have not found one single issue at all with this rifle! The quality of perfection is outstanding!! Keep up the AMAZING work and I do have to say I would LOVE to see a pistol, been anxiously waiting for that. :) Thanks, Windham.
