Happy New Year!
They say with a new year comes new challenges and looking back at the excessive out-of-control spending in Washington, there’s little doubt that will be true.  If you’ll remember, we kicked off 2013 with a near shutdown of all operations as we approached the “Fiscal Cliff.” It wasn’t until October, through a series of bad agreements that we came up with this terrible solution to raise the debt ceiling.  I said it back in October and I’ll say it again in 2014 that these battles over debt ceilings and government spending are always worth fighting and even though conservatives haven’t seen too many success stories, I do believe America is starting to awake to the realization that we need real leadership that will make the tough choices to keep this country great. I hold my head high as we go into the New Year that we’ve done a great job fighting the good fight.

Government Overspending in 2013
The Heritage Foundation ran a great article today highlighting some of the more egregious government spending in 2013.  How much do you think an outhouse in Alaska might cost?  How about nearly $100,000!  When you consider that the US Census reported the average cost of a new home was $340,300, I’m really not sure that a single toilet with no indoor plumbing was a good deal.  Then there was the $5.4 million dollar bar tab for the State Department.  I understand we need to wine and dine our friends and partners in the world but perhaps we could look to save a little? Every year we hear about another “bridge to nowhere” project and every year we turn a blind-eye.  Here’s to hoping 2014 is the year of responsibility.  I have my doubts.

2013: The Year of The Scandals
Unfortunately, I think history won't be too kind to the Obama administration and 2013. We spent months tracking stories related to mandates that IRS officials target conservative groups, that the Department of Justice was unjustly targeting conservative journalists and, perhaps the worst, was what could only be described as a major cover-up occurred in Benghazi. In January of 2013, President Obama was just over 50% approval and he kicks off 2014 with roughly 38%. No, I can't say that 2013 will look favorably on President Obama and I'm not sure 2014 will be much brighter.

What's Going To Happen To The War on Drugs? - Posted by Bunk

Now that it's been legalized within our borders? our borders? The Federal Government is facing a serious issue now. I'm not sure about Washington, but I know for a fact that Colorado has made the purchase of marijuana legal to ALL US citizens, therefore, undoubtedly, citizens from various states will come in droves for the tourism. Now... some of these people will be crazy enough to try and cross the Colorado state border with anywhere from a negligent to ENORMOUS amount of high quality weed. What will the feds do about this? Are we now going to have border patrol within our own country??? Do we really want a police state within our borders? I'm anxious to see how this works out.
