Tipping Point at the Border
Yesterday we were in Texas, witnessing the chaos unfolding at our border. It's a trip the president should have done, but instead he has chosen to keep his distance. Meanwhile, the crisis is reaching a tipping point. Among the more alarming statistics shared with us at yesterday's briefing was the fact that over 624,000 crimes have been committed by illegal immigrants against Texas citizens in the last seven years. We are talking about crimes including home invasions, murder and rape. Another report from Terry Jeffrey at CNS News  finds that 40% of all federal criminal cases filed in 2013 took place in the five courts on the U.S.-Mexican border. Another shocking thing we learned at the border is that we have illegal immigrants coming in from Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Syria. This should be cause for major concerns to our national security. So have a humanitarian crisis and a national security crisis mounting on our borders, and the Commander-in-Chief can't be bothered to take the time to witness it for himself? That is a serious problem. As Peggy Noonan questions in the Wall Street Journal, "Is a nation without borders a nation?"

Will The President Deliver?
The First Lady of Guatemala, who visited her citizens on the border not long ago, has said that the children who're crossing the border into the United States aren't fleeing violence, which has become the talking point among many claiming they should be granted political asylum. She believes most of the children, coming from rural areas of the country not dominated by violence, are coming to the U.S. to be reunited with family. Also, the Examiner reports> that the presidents of Guatemala and Mexico have entered into an agreement to make it easier for illegals from Central America to cross through Mexico in order to reach the United States.>Will the president live up to the request of Texas Governor Rick Perry and other lawmakers to send the National Guard down to the border? Amazingly enough, the White House is actually sticking by its claim that our border security is stronger than ever. If that were the case, we wouldn't have a humanitarian crisis on our hands, with 90,000 illegal minors expected to cross the border by the end of the year.

A Letter You Need To Read
If you want to see the real impact that the immigration issue is having on Americans, you really need to read the letter  one mother, Mary Ann Mendoza, has written to President Obama about the immigration crisis. Her son, Sgt. Brandon Mendoza, was killed by an illegal immigrant. She says, “I have been DIRECTLY affected by this. I am sure if your life had been affected like mine has been, you would have a different view of this situation ... When will you realize the hurt and pain and destruction these illegal immigrants who break the law will continue to cause???? Until you live in a state that deals with this on a daily basis, you will not understand it.” This was a powerful reminder that the decisions that are made in Washington have a critical and daily impact on the lives of Americans everywhere. A reminder that those in Washington really need now.
