This topic does not exactly fit in to the theme of Diogenes Light, but I am marveling at it, and figure my loyal readers might also. And saving a chunk of money is always a good thing.
I had not heard of the Dollar Shave Club, until my wife mentioned it a couple weeks ago. She said she signed me up to the dollar a month shave club. Well, I figured it was some sort of a gimmick, you know, I would have to pay more as time goes on.
Saturday, I received my first package from the Dollar Shave Club, and was pleasantly surprised. Inside was a shaver, and a 5 cartridges. A sample of Dr. Carvers shave butter, and a package of One Wipe Charles, butt wipes. This morning was the first shave experience, and I must say it was a great shave, even with just the double blade cartridge.
Many years ago I stopped spending money on the super expensive razor blade refills. I don't know, but the major brands must have some price fixing going on with razors blade refills. Just crazy prices, up to $40 for the top of the line razors, insane. I began purchasing some cheap disposables sold by Target, but they gave a good shave and were cheap. But I find it difficult to get by Target all the time, Target was the only place that sold that particular disposable, and I hate fighting the lines. So I ended up shaving many mornings with a dull razor until I forced myself to go to Target.
So, it looks like now, I have eliminated yet one more item I don't have to go shopping for, and the shave, even with just the double blade was great. Now, if you are a shaving connoisseur, you might want the 4 or 6 stainless steel blade option. But the 2 blade is just fine for me.
So must be a catch?? Shipping too high? Nope, shipping is just $2.00, so for a grand total of $3.00 a month, I have my razors delivered to my door. No more traipsing around at the big box stores, fighting the misfits, that alone is reason enough for me to use the Dollar Shave Club. You cannot buy a 5 count cartridge of razors for $3, or at least I have never found any that cheap.
