Destroying The Tunnels
A 72-hour ceasefire brokered by Egypt has gone into effect between Israel and Hamas. Israeli troops have withdrawn from Gaza. But the situation remains tense. In the moments leading up to the ceasefire, Hamas was still firing rockets into Israel. Israel believes it has destroyed upwards of 10,000 Hamas rockets. It also believes it has destroyed more than 30 of the tunnels I've told you so much about. These tunnels are crucial, and Israel believes that their destruction is vital to its future peace and security. Israeli military sources say that Hamas has built at least 100 tunnels, which means that Israel may have a ways to go if they are given the opportunity to destroy them once and for all. From what we've seen, these tunnels can be as deep as 70 feet underground and are big enough so that a person measuring 5-foot-10 can walk upright. It's truly humbling to try and put yourself in the position of the Israeli people who live under constant threat of being attacked. To put yourself in this situation, you can understand how you would want your government to do whatever was necessary to end it. If America was attacked repeatedly, wouldn't you want the government to make sure it couldn't happen again? That is was Israel is currently fighting for: its survival, long-term peace without fear of future attacks. That process begins and ends with the full destruction of these Hamas tunnels.

Does America Really Support Israel?
Americans believe that Israel's actions are justified, but not by a morally clear margin. A Gallup poll released today finds the following : "42 percent of Americans say Israel's actions against Hamas are justified, compared with 38 percent who say they are unjustified. By contrast, only 14 percent of Americans believe that Hamas' actions against Israel are justified, with 66 percent saying they are unjustified." It's hard to believe that more Americans do not understand the danger facing Israel and support its right to defend itself and prevent future attacks. To read the Hamas charter, you will quickly realize that a truce or ceasefire does not comport with Hamas' purpose, which is essentially to destroy Israel (the Jews). Israel's very existence is the problem and that cannot be solved, in Hamas' eyes, by a brokered truce. That's a challenge, and that's why Israel's current battle is so important. They understand the true threat they face and the realities of terrorist groups like Hamas. As Netanyahu said to Washington, "Never second-guess me again" on Hamas. Maybe it's time we listen.

Border Update
Tensions around the world have certainly heated up, but a crisis remains at our own border. Here are some of the last headlines. Statistics from the Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection show the number of "family unit" apprehensions at the Mexican border to be up 493% this year! In 2013, 9,350 family units were apprehended at the border compared to 55,420 so far this year. Meanwhile, the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the border is up 106% so far this year, to 57,525 and counting. According to a report from Kristin Tate at Breitbart, these unaccompanied minors are being released in lavish vacation destinations such as the U.S. Virgin Islands. Yesterday, I told you how people from at least 75 other nations are taking advantage of our porous border and vague immigration laws. These include people from countries harboring terrorist organizations, as well as people from the West African nations currently experiencing the worst Ebola outbreak in history. Secure the border first. Get things under control. Spare these people from risking their lives and the violence associated with making the journey to this country under the false pretenses of being granted amnesty. Or maybe not so false, if King Obama has his way.
