RAND PAUL TALKS ABOUT SANCTUARY CITIES - IMMIGRATION - CONFEDERATE FLAG

Senator Rand Paul talks with Greta Van Susteren of Fox News about sanctuary cities, Immigration, and the current Iran negotiations. Paul talks about the recent murder in San Francisco of Kathryn Steinle, the 32-year-old woman shot and killed on a pier in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant. Paul then talks about the negative consequences of having sanctuary cities and how something needs to be fixed. At the end of the interview Paul talks about the recent Iran negotiations and how he has always supported a negotiation through a position of strength.

Senator Rand Paul talks about the Confederate flag with WRKO on the Boston radio show, The Kuhner Report. Paul said he agreed with South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley that the flag should go, adding, “I think the flag is inescapably a symbol of human bondage and slavery, and particularly when people use it obviously for murder, and to justify hatred so vicious that you would kill somebody, I think that that symbolism needs to end. And I think South Carolina’s doing the right thing.”

The Confederate flag controversy stems from the recent South Carolina shooting in Charleston. On the evening of June 17, 2015, a mass shooting took place at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, United States. The church is one of the United States' oldest black churches and has long been a site for community organization around civil rights. Nine people were killed, including the senior pastor and state senator, Clementa C. Pinckney. A tenth person was shot and survived. Dylann Roof has been arrested for performing the violent shooting.
