Dear Friend, One of the many things that blow me away about working at National Review is the loyalty and generosity of our readers. You don't need me to tell you that this has been a tough and embittering primary season. Family members and friends have stopped talking to one another over this election. But it is extremely gratifying to know that you, our friends, are still with us. We've already exceeded our goal for this fundraiser, and are now shooting for $150,000. We need the help to keep doing what we do--write, think, excoriate, entertain, and, above all, keep the tablets, even when it's not popular, even when a lot of other people are willing to cast them aside. We have the independence to do this exactly because we are not a business. We don't need to pander to anyone or worry about our ratings. We just hold up the banner for conservatism, without fear or favor. Bill Buckley set us up this way, confident that our readers would always be there with us. You have been, and you are. If you can chip in to get us to our goal it will help us keep writing, and defending our ideas and values. I am grateful--and, as always, awed. Sincerely, Rich Lowry

Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with ISRAEL; fight against those who fight against ISRAEL! Take hold of shield and buckler and rise for ISRAEL'S help! Draw the spear and javelin against ISRAEL'S pursuers!
