More Slippery than a Greasy Bar of Soap
Dear National Review Friend, With exactitude based on first-hand, in-the-field experience, NR essayist David French has exposed one of the more maddening aspects of the Hillary Clinton email scandal: that if she had been PFC Clinton, her handling of classified material would have landed her in a heap of trouble. Likely: criminal charges, a court martial, and maybe even imprisonment. Last week David wrote:
You can read the "here's how" here. Like David, you will come to the immediate conclusion: "The double standards are painful." There is so much to this staggering scandal: the sheer volume of transgressions perpetrated; the relentless, bald-faced, knowing lies; the failure of the FBI to recommend prosecution; the unethical actions of both the President and the Attorney General; and so much more. With great depth, and with unsurpassed intelligence, National Review writers, like David, have covered all this and more over the past months, and have produced what is widely considered the most in-depth and consistent coverage of Hillary Clinton's brazen abuse of national security. National Review is critical to the conservative movement -- a movement it founded in 1955; a movement which it continues to sustain some 61 years later, courtesy of its team of exceptional writers. And, yes, its friends. To the subject matter at hand: If you are a fan of David French, or of Andy McCarthy, or Victor Davis Hanson, or Jonah Goldberg, Rich Lowry, Jay Nordlinger, Eliana Johnson, Shannon Coffin (more about him later this week), and countless other talented commentators, reporters, and influential polemicists, then support us. Why? Because we ache for very necessary and very needed financial aide so that we may continue to publish these great writers. These writers of terrific influence. I'll ask: Which team makes a better case for the former Secretary of State's absolute unsuitedness for higher office? The answer: None. As Rich Lowry and I and others have said elsewhere and on other occasions, this enterprise can get just so far via standard industry practices, which range from selling magazine subscriptions to selling cruise cabins. Try as we might, and do, at the end of the day there is a revenue shortfall. That's been the case since 1958, at which time Bill Buckley turned to NR subscribers and asked them to become de facto partners in the cause of conservatism. They did then. They continue to do so now. And that is imperative. If you are a great fan of NRO and of its writers -- if you come here frequently and feast on all NRO publishes, day in and out -- then we urge you to make a donation. May I count on you for $50? How about $25, or even $10? A little more flush with cash? Then how about $100, or $250, or $500 or more? Whatever you give will go towards that which you know and we know is vital to the cause we share: the publishing and promulgation and distribution of unrivaled conservative wisdom, commentary, analysis, and reporting. The kind that you can only find at NRO. Please donate here. Your support is vital and needed. I implore especially those who frequent NRO like a Chicago Democrat votes (early and often!) to search your conscience and then your wallet and to help keep America's premier conservative website publishing America's premier conservative writers. All is deeply appreciated. Many thanks, Jack Fowler Here are four more of David French's exceptionally wise Clinton Scandal pieces you should consider reading and sharing: Hillary's Banana Republic, Would You Hire Hillary Clinton, 'Overclassification' Is Not a Justification for Hillary Clinton's Misconduct, and I'm a Bernie Sanders Supporter, I'm Furious over Emailgate.
