In 1976, Manafort was the delegate-hunt coordinator for eight states for the President Ford Committee; the overall Ford delegate operation was run by James A. Baker III. He was the first African American governor of New York. Former Governor Paterson is the current chairman of the New York Democratic Party. Since leaving office - Paterson has sometimes been a radio talk show host in New York City. In 1985 - he was elected to the New York State Senate to a seat that was once held by his father - former New York Secretary of State Basil Paterson. In 2003 - he rose to the position of Senate Minority Leader. Governor Paterson is becoming a sage observer on political life in New York. His commentary on the current ethical challenges in Albany is being taken as serious advice to the law makers supposedly drafting new guidelines. | New book in December 2016 Former New York State Senator and Majority Leader Senator Joe Bruno represented the upstate 43rd New York State Senate District. In 1966 - Bruno was on the campaign staff of Governor Nelson Rockefeller - and from 1969 to 1974 he served as Special Assistant to Speaker of the Assembly. Bruno was first elected to the New York State Senate in 1976 and was re-elected every year until his resignation in 2008. While in office - the phrase “three men in room” was coined to refer to Governor George Pataki - Assembly Leader Sheldon Silver and Joe Bruno as the 3 men who ran the state of New York. Upon his retirement - Bruno was hit with 9 counts of abusing his office. The first trial found him guilty yet on appeal he was completely exonerated. Now lives on his upstate farm and is writing a book about his ordeal which will be published in December of 2016. | The last milk producer in New York City Cyrus Schwartz is the CEO of Dora’s Naturals Food which owned the last milk packager in New York City, Elmhurst Dairy founded in Queens and operated within the borough since its inception in 1919. Two brothers, Max and Arthur Schwartz, were the children of Eastern European immigrants that came from a long line of dairy farmers. They grew up on a 40 acre dairy farm founded at the turn of the century in the Middle Village area of Queens.
