President Trump Weekly Address - Black History - transforming our communities and about bringing back hope

I want every African-American child, family, and worker to have access to great schools, safe communities, and a good paying job. I want every disadvantaged child in America to have a choice on where they go to school.

0-11

The President- My fellow Americans, as Black

0-12

History Month 2017 comes to a close.

0-16

I am very grateful for the many wonderful opportunities to

0-19

honor African American heroes, faith leaders,

0-23

entrepreneurs, and the many others who changed

0-26

the course of our nation.

0-28

We are blessed by the lives and examples of

0-30

those who have made this nation of beacon of

0-33

freedom, talent, and unbreakable

0-36

American spirit.

0-38

This week I had the privilege of visiting The

0-41

Nation Museum of African American history and

0-44

culture right here in Washington D.C. It's a new

0-48

beautiful Smithsonian Museum that serves as a

0-51

shining example of African Americans incredible

0-55

contribution to our culture, our Society,

0-59

and our history.

1-00

It also tells of the great struggle for freedom and

1-04

equality that prevailed against the sins of

1-07

slavery and the injustice of discrimination.

1-11

The work and love the people who help create

1-13

such a masterpiece is a testament to the legacy of

1-17

so many leaders it honors.

1-19

I left that museum confident that together

1-23

America can overcome any challenge.

1-26

there's a great quote by Mohamad Ali in the museum

1-29

"I shook up the world."

1-31

He said.

1-32

And that's what he did.

1-33

So did leaders like Sojourner Truth, Frederick

1-37

Douglas, Booker T Washington, Martin Luther

1-40

King and so many others.

1-43

They shook up the world for the better, because

1-45

they inspired our nation to march toward justice

1-48

and freedom for all.

1-50

Today and everyday I pledge to continue that

1-53

march so that every American no matter his

1-56

background, no matter her background has the chance

2-00

to climb that great ladder of success.

2-04

It was very special to accompany Dr. Ben Carson

2-07

and his family for the first time seeing the

2-10

Carson exhibit.

2-12

I am proud that soon he will serve in my cabinet

2-15

as the secretary of housing and

2-17

urban development.

2-18

HUD has a very very powerful meaning, far

2-22

beyond housing.

2-24

Its about transforming our communities about bringing

2-26

back hope, and Ben will do a fantastic job.

2-30

That what im committed to doing also, I want every

2-34

African American child, family, and worker to have

2-37

access to great schools, safe communities and

2-41

good paying job.

2-42

I want every disadvantaged child in America to have a

2-47

choice on where they go to school.

2-49

So Important.

2-50

I also want to honor and promote the achievements

2-53

of historically black colleges and universities

2-57

throughout our nation.

2-58

They do a fantastic job.

3-00

They're not given the credit that they deserve.

3-04

And they're gonna start getting that credit.

3-06

In order to help African Americans thrive were

3-09

working very to make that every child can grow up in

3-12

a safe community and have

3-14

access to high paying jobs.

3-16

We've lost a lot of our best jobs to other

3-19

countries and this has hurt the African American

3-22

community very badly.

3-24

This week I met with manufacturing CEOs were

3-27

going to be working to bring back those jobs, and

3-30

I mean really good paying jobs.

3-33

Ill be talking more about these issues in my joint

3-36

session address to congress and to all

3-38

Americans next Tuesday evening.

3-41

I hope you will be watching.

3-43

Thank you, God bless you.

3-45

And God Bless America.
