Dear NR Friends,

Every so often we are moved to inform you about a forthcoming, worthwhile book that we are confident will be of interest to National Review readers.

Over the past decade, conservative leader Craig Shirley has emerged as an acclaimed and respected (and best-selling) historian, particularly of Ronald Reagan. Next Tuesday (March 21st, to be exact) will be the formal publication date of his new work – Reagan Rising: The Decisive Years, 1976-1980.

Decisive indeed. A hero to many, especially readers of this journal, The Gipper found himself, as 1976 ended, a twice-failed Republican presidential hopeful, and as 1980 began, his third foray faced the same prospect. Thankfully, it didn't, and the story of why it didn't is expertly told by Craig.

Reagan Rising is a book you are going to want to read, and that you indeed are going to enjoy (and learn from). We encourage you: Order your copy, pre-publication, right now at Amazon.

Rightly so, there's a lot of advance praise for Reagan Rising:

  • John Heubusch, executive director of The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, says: "There are few historians, if any, better qualified to write on Ronald Reagan than Craig Shirley. His previous works on the life and times of Ronald Reagan have already established him as the nexus of insight into our 40th President. Reagan Rising is proof positive of this claim, especially to the many who still hunger for new, authentic and rarely seen moments of important Reagan history. Mr. Shirley has taken on a tough subject in examining a remarkable and complicated man. Every reader will benefit from the care Mr. Shirley has taken to get it just right."

  • Ken Khachigian, the former top aide to RWR, and his chief speechwriter as president, offers his accolades: "Whoever seeks to know the heart of Ronald Reagan will find it in Reagan Rising, as Craig Shirley once again records our 40th President with extraordinary warmth, depth and perspective. A 'must add' to any Reagan fan's library."

  • Another top Reagan aide, Mari Maseng Will, is effusive in her praise: "This book is serious history that reads like a page-turner novel. Craig Shirley's prose, while carefully annotated, is as compelling as fireside stories told by an eye witness. The details and insights in this book provide must-know context for American politics past, present and in the future."

  • And Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy puts the book into the perspective of 2017 politics: "Craig Shirley's newest book, Reagan Rising, reveals the real Reagan—the ideas that shaped the man and his presidency. With Trump in the White House, this is the most important book you must read."

You can get it sooner, or you can get it later. Why not sooner – why not right now? Order your copy, pre-publication, of Craig Shirley's sure-to-be-bestseller Reagan Rising: The Decisive Years, 1976-1980 today at Amazon.

Best,

Jack Fowler
