Dear NR Friend,

I am hopeful you will be part of the effort to help National Review underwrite some important projects – the very things that will transform the finances of this critical institution.

Welcome to the NR 2018 Spring Webathon, which I explain in depth here – my sincere hope is that you will see fit to pitching in, done securely here.

Our goal is to raise $210,000 over the next few weeks, with the three principles objectives being

  1. To raise further funds to help with our very expensive website rebuild,

  2. To bankroll a "content provider" position – something we think is vital to expanding our editorial footprint and to impacting the bottom line, and,

  3. To underwrite a financial reporter position – like the content provider, it expands the range of NR's editorial voice and will clearly help increase our editorial revenue.

In other words, these hoped-for funds are truly an investment in securing NR's future. We believe that the day will come, sooner than later, that these appeals for assistance – first launched by Bill Buckley in 1957 when the red ink started to reach chin level – might truly become a thing of the past.

Bill owned NR, he believed and repeatedly stated, on behalf of the people who, for decades, kept the magazine's doors open, its lights on, its crusade crusading, its stop-yelling and History athwart-standing … yelling and standing. He was right. And that's why we hold, as he did, that when we use that word – "we" – it assumes you. It is inclusive of the wonderful and generous people who are committed to the conservative mission that was founded by and nurtured by and articulated by (with brilliance and consequence) Bill and NR.

The $210,000 is a major goal. Let's reach it, together, on behalf of all we mutually believe, on behalf of all we wish to ensure (must ensure) for future generations.

Let's get into the weeds: I am asking you to consider a donation of $25, 100, $250. Can you? What about $1,000 or $2,500 or even … dare I suggest, more?

OK, I dare: It is vital that some of you with significant means make a profound contribution, of $10,000, even $25,000. Even … $100,000 (it has happened!).

Any and all donations are truly appreciated, because each and every is given with true selflessness.

Please make your kind contribution here.

Many thanks,

Jack Fowler

Vice President, National Review

P.S.: Bill is smiling because he knows that you are going to do right by NR, by conservatism, by our principles, by yourself.
