New York Attorney General Sues Trump Family for Using Their Charity for Political Gain

The New York attorney general filed suit Thursday against President Trump, his children, and their charitable foundation for violating state laws prohibiting non-profit involvement in elections.

Attorney general Barbara Underwood, who recently succeeded Eric Schneiderman, is seeking to dissolve the Donald J. Trump Foundation for making expenditures to influence the outcome of the election, self-dealing and wasting charitable assets.

The suit, filed in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan, seeks restitution from Trump and calls for the state to ban him from serving as an officer of any charity.
