Trump Administration Abortion Referral Restrictions Take Immediate Effect

Family planning clinics that receive federal funding will no longer be permitted to provide abortion referrals, the Trump administration announced Monday.

The Department of Health and Human Services informed the clinics that the rule would take immediate effect on Monday ahead of a planned conference with the clinics on Tuesday. Another rule requiring that family planned clinics do not share space with abortion providers will take effect next year.
