What do you believe about government?

Dear Fellow Conservative,

What did our founders believe about the role of government in our lives?

They believed that the federal government exists to protect the rights of individuals: the right to life; the freedom of speech, religion, the press, and assembly; the right to bear arms; the right of individuals to be treated equally and justly under the law; and the right to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

As conservatives, we still value these rights today.

But the far Left has twisted the role of government throughout the years. Even though they say that government exists to protect its people, what that means to them is very different.

Protecting us doesn't mean overregulating business; using our taxes to fund social programs that we don't need or agree with; or silencing us when we try to live out our faiths and express our beliefs.

P.S. The founders' view of government limits and separates its power, while giving citizens like you and me freedom and opportunity.
