The Trouble With Do-Somethingism on Guns

May 30 2022

Greetings this Memorial Day from Washington, where we honor all those who sacrificed their lives for the nation in armed conflict. James Di Pane and Jackson Clark remind us why. Liberals want more restrictions on Americans' gun ownership after the school shooting in Texas. The trouble is, something effective needs to be done, David Harsanyi and Josh Hammer argue in separate pieces. Plus: China makes an example of a Catholic cardinal, and pro-abortion protesters plan a hotter summer. One hundred years ago today, Chief Justice William Howard Taft, himself a former president, dedicates the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall.
