| | | Janet Yellen is Wrong. Protecting Life Could Never Damage the Economy | | Rachel Greszler & Jay Richards | May 16, 2022 | Life should never be reduced to economics. Yet, in the wake of the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion that could overturn Roe v. Wade, abortion supporters have resorted to shocking claims that limiting abortions will hurt the economy. During a Senate Banking Committee hearing on May 10, Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., asked Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen about the “real-world economic consequences” for American women if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. Yellen said this “would have very damaging effects on the economy and would set women back decades.” In his question, Menendez cited analysis from the Institute for Women’s Policy Research to set up Yellen’s answer. The moment was clearly scripted, and not just a spontaneous exchange. Either way, it’s a bad look. Continue Reading... |

| | | | | | It’s Not Progressive Christianity, It’s Accommodationist Christianity, and It Has Nothing of Christ In It | | Tom Gilson | May 17, 2022 | The world is polarizing, and the contagion has hit Christianity. I used to think we were splintered into all kinds of factions. More and more, though, we’re separating into just two. The two groups have fuzzy edges and points of overlap, but the distinction is there, it’s real, and I think it opens up huge layers of understanding. The first group I call Anchored, meaning, they anchor their truths in the Word of God. It’s not their only source of truth, but they are convinced that where it speaks, it speaks truly and with authority. So their goal is to understand it properly and follow it faithfully. They know they fall short, but the goal remains for them regardless. The second group I call Accommodationist, meaning that they’ll give honor in some sense to the Word of God, but they want their message to fit in better with the world somehow. They’re Christian in name, but they don’t mind altering their message to accommodate the world. Continue Reading... |

| | | | | How the US Would Empower the WHO to Rule Global Health | | Annemarie McLean | May 19, 2022 | If you’re debating where to put your attention next week, all eyes should be on Geneva, Switzerland. An upcoming vote at the 75th World Health Assembly stands to make the World Health Organization the ultimate global health authority and its Director-General the global public health czar. Much to our shame, the U.S., via Joe Biden, has proposed 13 amendments to the International Health Regulations Agreement that, if passed, would apply to 194 participating nations and change international public health rules. The agreement, with its possible new conditions, is legally binding with provisions that undermine the sovereignty of the world’s nation-states while consolidating power in the hands of an unelected global organization — all in the name of public health. | | | You Were Made for More | | Janet Boynes | May 16, 2022 | That look in the mirror tells the story of shame, low self-esteem and pain. The mascara and foundation may hide some of it, but you can’t hide the story your eyes tell. Each time it happens, you wonder how much more you can take. You want to believe this is the last time, but you do not see any end in sight. Every time it happens, a piece of you falls away. You try to gather those pieces, but they are so scattered and broken that you can’t put them back together. When is enough actually enough? Will there ever be a time you can find rest and peace? You are worth so much more than to what someone has tried to reduce you. It is not your fault that someone else can’t control their anger or doesn’t see your value. It may be difficult, but you must shift your focus from the words they speak to what you believe about yourself. Continue Reading... |
