Breaking: Bob Barker, Longtime Host of The Price Is Right, Dead at 99

Bob Barker, the iconic longtime host of The Price is Right, has died at the age of 99, his publicist said in a statement on Saturday.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World's Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker has left us," said publicist Roger Neal, who served as Barker’s publicist from 1987 to 1994 and again from 2020.

"I am so proud of the trailblazing work Barker, and I did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally,” Barker’s longtime girlfriend Nancy Burnet added in a statement through Neal. “We were great friends over these 40 yrs. He will be missed."

Barker hosted The Price Is Right for 35 years before retiring from the job in 2007 at the age of 87. After Barker’s retirement, Drew Carey took over as the show’s host.

“I have thought every year for the last 10 or 15 years that maybe I should quit, and then I think, ‘No, I’ll do it for another year,'” he told Entertainment Weekly at the time of his retirement. “I regret that I’m quitting now.'”

Barker turned the CBS show into a hit and helped make it the longest-running game show in U.S. history. He was the longest-tenured game-show host.
