Biden gives Assange sweetheart deal to avoid prison time . . . WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has reportedly struck a deal with the Biden administration to plead guilty to a felony charge stemming from his role in one of the largest breaches of classified U.S. government material in history. The Biden Department of Justice will seek a 62-month prison sentence for Assange. The plea deal allows the five years that he has served in the U.K. to count as time served, thus allowing him to avoid spending time in a U.S. prison. Assange was indicted by a Virginia federal grand jury in 2019 on more than a dozen charges that alleged he illegally obtained and disseminated classified information about U.S. Military operations overseas. He faced more than 175 years in prison. Daily Wire
Meanwhile, Trump is convicted of felonies and faces possible jail time, because paying a lawyer for legal services is just as bad as stealing and disseminating classified information about our military operations.

Native Americans strongly preferred Democratic House candidates that year. Daily Caller

CNN debate loaded with pitfalls for Trump; Biden primed for kid-glove treatment . . . Former President Donald Trump will be stepping into a left-wing minefield on Thursday when he debates President Biden on CNN, whose moderators have compared him to Adolf Hitler. Trump supporters have lamented what they call unfavorable terms of the debate. The candidates will have no live audience and no chance to interrupt each other. Jake Tapper and Dana Bash have been chosen as the moderators. Washington Times
This may work for Trump, though. The sight of him dueling it out with Bash and Tapper is going to raise a lot of money and energize the GOP base even more.
CNN's Kasie Hunt cuts off interview with Trump aide over attacks on moderator . . . CNN anchor Kasie Hunt stopped an interview with a top spokesperson for former President Trump's campaign Monday after she repeatedly attacked two CNN anchors slated to host this week's presidential debate. "President Trump is knowingly going into a hostile environment on this very network, on CNN, with debate moderators who have made their opinions about him very well known over the past eight years and their biased coverage of him," said Trump national press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Hunt then cut her off again, warning her "Ma'am, we're going to stop this interview if you're going to keep attacking my colleagues." As Leavitt continued, Hunt instructed the CNN control room to cut the video feed. The Hill
Looks like CNN is going to handle this debate very fairly . . .
Surgeon general declares firearm violence a public health crisis . . . U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy declared gun violence a public health crisis Tuesday and called on the nation to address it with the same vigor used to reduce deaths and injuries from tobacco and motor vehicle crashes. The surgeon general's advisory marked the first time the nation's leading voice on public health — the same office that in the 1960s highlighted the lethal consequences of cigarette smoking — had issued an urgent pronouncement on deaths related to firearms. The 39-page advisory underscores the significant physical and mental toll of gun violence on communities nationwide. Washington Post
You get what's going on here, right? They make it a public health emergency, and then they get to take public health measures to restrict Second Amendment rights.

Rachel Morin's mom rips Biden's indifference to border crisis . . . The mother of a Maryland woman who police say was raped and murdered by an undocumented migrant ripped President Biden's indifference to the nation's border crisis in an emotional interview. "It's like they're pretending these immigration problems don't exist and people aren't being harmed and killed by their policies," Patty Morin said. Her daughter, Rachel Morin, 37, was raped and beaten before she was strangled to death on a Maryland hiking trail in August 2023 – leaving her five children without a mother. Fox News
Courts grant injunctions against Biden's student loan repayment plan . . . The future of President Biden's new student loan repayment plan is in doubt after a pair of federal judges issued separate injunctions Monday preventing the government from fully implementing and forgiving any more loans through the program while they consider lawsuits to end the policy. The dual rulings leave myriad questions about whether borrowers can still enroll in the plan or receive promised loan cancellation. Millions of Americans could be affected. Washington Post
Support for nonbinary identities essential for national security, top Pentagon official says . . . The Pentagon's second-highest-ranking official outlined a commitment to policies focused on "nonbinary service members" and mandating critical race theory training, claiming those points were keys to national security. Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleene Hicks discussed the need to create a cultural change in the military at multiple Pride events, including most recently on June 5. Fox News
Maybe they think it will confuse the enemy.

Israel's high court orders the army to draft ultra-Orthodox men . . . Israel's Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled unanimously that the military must begin drafting ultra-Orthodox men for compulsory service, a landmark decision that could lead to the collapse of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's governing coalition as Israel continues to wage war in Gaza. The historic ruling effectively puts an end to a decades-old system that granted ultra-Orthodox men broad exemptions from military service while maintaining mandatory enlistment for the country's secular Jewish majority. The arrangement, deemed discriminatory by critics, has created a deep chasm in Israel's Jewish majority over who should shoulder the burden of protecting the country. Associated Press
The ultra-orthodox are part of Netanyahu's coalition, and the ruling could cause the coalition to become unstable since Netanyahu may not be able to do anything about it.
Netanyahu dismisses Biden peace proposal . . . Word began to spread on Sunday evening that Hooters locations in places like Bryan, Texas; Lakeland, Florida; and Louisville, Kentucky were closing abruptly, with nearly 40 restaurants in the U.S. shutting their doors. Fox Business
Don't worry, the country isn't turning toward better morals. It's just that looking at girls on the Internet is easier than going all the way to Hooters. You have to leave the house and stuff.

Bride catches on fire at her wedding . . . Mostly every woman wants to look hot on her big day — but this bride's dream went up in flames. Rather than throwing rice, attendees at a springtime marriage ceremony were forced to throw buckets of water at the happy couple after the newlywed's gown was set ablaze. The clip featured visuals of the just-married pair walking up the aisle — decorated with lit candles — as loved ones applauded their union. New York Post
