Good morning,
Welcome to the news for independent thinkers
Leading the News . . .
Harris meets with Netanyahu, demands Gaza war ends . . . Vice President Kamala Harris has held what she called "frank and constructive" talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Striking a tougher tone than President Joe Biden, Ms Harris said she made clear her "serious concerns" about casualties in Gaza, telling Mr Netanyahu how Israel defended itself mattered. "It is time for this war to end," she said after their face-to-face talks at the White House. Harris also stressed the need for a path to a two-state solution, while calling on Americans to be aware of "nuance" on the conflict. BBC
A "frank" discussion means everyone was pissed off.
Netanyahu to meet Trump as Israeli leader looks to rekindle relationship. . . Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is slated to meet former President Trump on Friday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida in an effort to repair a fractured relationship. After President Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 presidential election, Netanyahu congratulated President-elect Biden, prompting Trump to call out the Israeli leader and was quoted as saying "I haven't spoken to him since," according to comments released from an interview with Israeli journalist Barak Ravid. "F--k him," Trump added. Fox News

Biden campaign co-chair suggests the president quit because the money dried up . . . The co-chair of President Biden's now-defunct campaign expressed anger at big donors who decided to withhold their contributions and suggested they had forced Biden to forego his re-election efforts. Following Biden's announcement that he would no longer run for a second term on Sunday, Biden campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond told CNN that wealthy donors had "created a self-fulfilling prophecy" after Biden's widely panned debate performance. NY Times: Trump was hit by a bullet, not shrapnel . . . Nearly two weeks after the assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump, there's still no official report about what caused the wound on his right ear. This lack of clarity has left the issue unsettled and fueled speculation online about whether he was hit by a bullet or shrapnel — or perhaps something else. But a detailed analysis of bullet trajectories, footage, photos and audio by The New York Times strongly suggests Mr. Trump was grazed by the first of eight bullets fired by the gunman, Thomas Crooks. Subsequent bullets wounded two rally goers and killed a third. New York Times
Trump tears into FBI director who questioned if ex-prez was struck by bullet . . . Donald Trump tore into FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday after the bureau head raised questions about whether the former president was actually struck by a bullet when a would-be assassin opened fire at his campaign rally earlier this month. "FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he wasn't sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet (the FBI never even checked!), but he was sure that Crooked Joe Biden was physically and cognitively 'uneventful' – Wrong!" Trump wrote on Truth Social, getting in a dig at President Biden as well. New York Post
Harris would end cash bail and "transform the criminal justice system . . . The elimination of cash bail and court-ordered fines are just two ways Vice President Kamala Harris wants to "transform the criminal justice system" and "end mass incarceration," according to a memo from her failed 2020 presidential campaign.
The memo, which is no longer available on her campaign website, describes what would be the most dramatic overhaul of how the nation confronts criminality. The "guiding principles" listed by Harris include an "end [to] mandatory minimums." Washington Free Beacon
Anytime someone wants to "transform" or "reform" the criminal justice system, it means more "criminal" and less "justice."
Harris failed to combat 'root causes' of illegal immigration, ex-Border Patrol union chief says . . . Vice President Harris has failed to address the root causes of illegal immigration after being trusted with the task by President Biden in 2021, according to the former Border Patrol union leader. "It's very disappointing," Brandon Judd, who recently retired as president of the Border Patrol Union, told Fox News Digital. "We gave her the policies that she needed to implement. She refused to implement those." Fox News
Why Putin prefers Harris over Trump in the White House . . . Putin is almost certainly terrified of another Trump presidency, but Kamala not so much. The Russians have assessed her to be vapid, unintelligent and incompetent, and can be unbalanced and manipulated in Moscow's view. The Russian media, which is almost exclusively under state control, speculated on Monday whether Harris's "cackling and giggling," "nervous, out-of-place clapping," "exaggerated gesticulation," nonsensical statements like "the passage of time," and "strange" facial expressions are a result of a psychiatric disorder or being constantly "inebriated." Since socialism destroyed the USSR, Moscow believes that someone like Harris leading America on the path of destruction is a good thing for Russia, which views the U.S. as its top security threat. It's now easier to pass AP exams . . . Changes by the tests' maker in recent years have shifted scores upward. That has led to hundreds of thousands of additional students getting what's considered a passing score—3 or above on the 1-to-5 scale—on exams in popular courses including AP U.S. History and AP U.S. Government. Some skeptical teachers, test-prep companies and college administrators see the recent changes as another form of grade inflation, and a way to boost the organization's business by making AP courses seem more attractive. Mexican drug kingpin Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and a son of his former partner, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, were arrested on Thursday in El Paso, Texas, in a major coup for U.S. authorities that may also reshape the Mexican criminal landscape. Zambada is one of the most consequential traffickers in Mexico's history and co-founded the Sinaloa Cartel with El Chapo, who was extradited to the U.S. in 2017 and is serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison. Biden admin denied resources to police during pro-Hamas protest rampage . . . Rep. Bruce Westerman (R., Ark.), the chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, fired off a letter to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland late Wednesday saying that Park Police requested additional manpower prior to the protest, but that the Interior Department denied those requests. In his letter to Haaland, he said the brazen attacks on federal property are correlated to the failure of Interior's leadership to provide support. Washington Free Beacon
Meantime, after ransacking Washington, the protestors have mostly escaped prosecution.

Chicken wings advertised as 'boneless' can have bones, Ohio Supreme Court decides . . . Consumers cannot expect boneless chicken wings to actually be free of bones, a divided Ohio Supreme Court ruled Thursday, rejecting claims by a restaurant patron who suffered serious medical complications from getting a bone stuck in his throat. In a 4-3 ruling, the Supreme Court said Thursday that "boneless wings" refers to a cooking style, and that Berkheimer should've been on guard against bones since it's common knowledge that chickens have bones. Associated Press
The problem here is that boneless chicken wings do indeed have bones, but they identify as boneless.
