Good morning,
Welcome to the news for independent thinkers
Leading the News . . .
Forceful Netanyahu tells Congress he will defeat Hamas, free hostages, defy critics . . . A fiery Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to press ahead with Israel's war against Palestinian Hamas militants until they surrender and free scores of Israeli and foreign hostages, and he urged lawmakers to send more military aid to the Jewish state in a defiant address to both chambers of Congress on Wednesday. In his remarks, Mr. Netanyahu made no mention of a cease-fire or momentary pause in fighting. Instead, he made the case that Israel was fighting not only to defend itself but also on behalf of the U.S. against Iran and other American adversaries across the Middle East. Washington Times
Netanyahu brands Gays for Gaza protestors Iran's "useful idiots" . . . "For all we know, Iran is funding the anti-Israel protests that are going on right now outside this building, not that many, but they're there, and throughout this city," Netanyahu said. "Well, I have a message for these protesters, when the tyrants of Tehran who hang gays from cranes and murder women for not covering their hair are praising, promoting and funding you, you have officially become Iran's useful idiots." Daily Caller
Pelosi says Netanyahu gave the worst speech to Congress of any foreign leader . . . Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) blasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to Congress on Wednesday as the "worst" in the body's history, harshly criticizing the leader's lack of progress toward a hostage deal with Hamas. "Benjamin Netanyahu's presentation in the House Chamber today was by far the worst presentation of any foreign dignitary invited and honored with the privilege of addressing the Congress of the United States," Pelosi wrote on the social platform X after the speech. The former Speaker skipped the event. The Hill
Watergate Hotel condemns pro-Palestinian maggot attack . . . The historic Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C.,condemned an allegedly pro-Palestine maggot attack on its guests in a statement Wednesday, calling the matter an "unfortunate incident."
Video footage posted Wednesday morning by the Palestinian Youth Movement shows a table flanked by an Israeli and an American flag covered in a disgusting array of what appears to be maggots. The move is reportedly a response to the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington. The Israeli delegation is staying at the hotel. Daily Signal

Biden passes torch, vows to cure cancer in slurred Oval Office address . . . President Joe Biden refused to resign on Wednesday, but finally explained his decision to begrudgingly "pass the torch" after losing a bitter power struggle with Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats who forced him to end his bid for reelection. Speaking from the Oval Office, surrounded by family and loved ones, Biden praised his accomplishments, as well as his selfless decision to withdraw from the race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris. Even though he clearly didn't want to, Biden congratulated himself for having the courage to "unite my party" and "defend democracy" by stepping aside. Washington Free Beacon
Trump maintains battleground state lead . . . Former President Donald Trump is maintaining his edge in key battleground states despite concerns from his own pollster that the replacement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the likely Democratic nominee would knock him out of the lead. In the just-released Emerson College Polling-Hill newspaper survey, Trump lost a little ground but still leads the Democratic ticket in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania and is tied in Wisconsin. Harris did gain support among younger voters, a trend cited in other polls. Washington Examiner
Obama doesn't believe Harris can beat Trump . . . Former President Barack Obama hasn't endorsed Kamala Harris' presidential bid because he doesn't think she can beat Donald Trump, according to a source close to the Biden family. Following President Biden's shocking exit from the race on Sunday, and his immediate endorsement of the vice president, most of the Democratic elite have been quick to rally behind Harris — but Obama is a notable exception. "Obama's very upset because he knows she can't win," the Biden family source told The Post. New York Post
Faith groups blast Harris for anti-Catholic bigotry . . . "Kamala Harris has a history of anti-Catholic bigotry," wrote CatholicVote President Brian Burch on X, and "believes that all faithful Catholics should be disqualified from serving as federal judges." As a congresswoman on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Harris notoriously grilled U.S. District Court nominee Brian C. Buescher in 2018 regarding his membership in the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic charitable organization, suggesting that this affiliation might disqualify him for judgeship. Harris asked Buescher whether he was aware that the Knights of Columbus held "extreme positions" on life and marriage, such as opposition to "a woman's right to choose" and "marriage equality." Kamala mostly stifles cackles in first campaign speech . . .
Govtrack deletes website ranking Harris as most liberal senator . . . Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) came in #99, right behind Harris. This list has now been deleted, and when you attempt to go to the page, you find a "page not found" message. GovTrack describes itself as publishing "the status of federal legislation" and "information" on representatives or senators who have been elected. Breitbart
Harris to address teachers union as it pushes trans theory in schools . . . In one of her first addresses after becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, Vice President Kamala Harris is set to address the nation's second-largest teachers union as the group plows through a laundry list of left-wing priorities at its annual gathering, including promoting transgender policies for children. Harris is set to address the American Federation of Teachers, led by its controversial president, Randi Weingarten, on Thursday as the organization has been busy voting to pass a litany of far-left resolutions at its 88th annual convention in Houston. Judge blocks Biden Education Dept. rule forcing schools to cater to trans kids . . . A Clinton-appointed judge issued a preliminary injunction Wednesday against the Biden Department of Education's newly revised Title IX rule, which forces schools to cater to transgender students. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey and several other states filed the original lawsuit in May against the Biden administration, alleging the rewrite was "unconstitutional." Bailey stated in the suit that the rewrite would destroy the privacy protections women and girls have in bathrooms, locker rooms, shower facilities and overnight accommodations. Daily Caller
Liberal Washington Post columnist's wife accused of spying for South Korea . . . The Washington Post faces lingering questions as liberal columnist Max Boot is caught up in a potential media scandal. The Justice Department charged Boot's wife, Sue Mi Terry, a former CIA analyst and senior official at the National Security Council, last week with acting as a secret agent for South Korea's intelligence service in exchange for luxury gifts. The indictment alleged that Terry accepted lavish gifts in exchange for pushing South Korean government positions during media appearances, sharing private information with intelligence officers and facilitating meetings to allow South Korean officials to be granted access to U.S. officials, without registering as a foreign agent. She has denied the charges. Fox News

Russia and Chinese nuclear-capable bombers entered the U.S. air defense identification zone near Alaska on Wednesday prompting North American Aerospace Defense Command jets to intercept the aircraft, the command said in a statement. The bombers were identified as two Tu-95 Russian bombers and two Chinese H-6 bombers. Both are missile-launching strategic bombers. The four bombers flew within international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace, the statement said. Washington Times

Israel recovers bodies of five hostages . . . The Israeli military says it has recovered the bodies of five Israelis taken back to Gaza as hostages during Hamas's attack on southern Israel on 7 October. The bodies of kindergarten teacher Maya Goren as well as the soldiers Major Ravid Aryeh Katz, Master Sergeant Oren Goldin, Staff Sergeant Tomer Ahimas and Sergeant Kiril Brodski were found during an operation in the Khan Younis area. The military said it had determined that Ms Goren was murdered in captivity, while the soldiers were killed in combat on 7 October and their bodies then abducted. The announcement means 111 of the 251 people taken hostage are still being held in Gaza, including 39 who the military says are presumed dead. BBC

Competitors have said the amount of food available, specifically eggs, which were rationed at breakfast on Wednesday, and grilled meats, is insufficient, according to the French newspaper L'Équipe.
