Harris secures enough delegates for nomination . . . Vice President Kamala Harris officially crossed the threshold to secure the Democratic presidential nomination on Monday, receiving over 1,968 delegate endorsements. She secured the unanimous endorsement of all delegates in her home state of California, the largest Democratic delegation in the country. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made the motion to endorse Harris for president, a Pelosi spokesperson told The Hill. The flurry of endorsements adds to Harris' meteoric ascent to becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee. The Hill
Harris smashes fundraising record with stunning $81 million haul over 24 hours . . . Kamala Harris is smashing fundraising records as the Democratic Party's donors — big and small — open their wallets for the vice president in the immediate aftermath of President Joe Biden's stunning decision to step aside. In total, Harris' team raised more than $81 million in the 24-hour period since Biden's announcemen. The massive haul, which includes money raised across the campaign, the Democratic National Committee and joint fundraising committees, represents the largest 24-hour sum reported by either side in the 2024 campaign. Harris' campaign said it was the largest single-day total in U.S. history. Associated Press
VP ripped for claims praising Biden's fitness amid age concerns . . . Vice President Kamala Harris, who recently became the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for president after President Biden stepped down on Sunday, is facing renewed criticism for dismissing concerns about Biden's health in recent months. "We have a very bold and vibrant president in Joe Biden," Harris told "Good Morning America" in February amid concerns about Biden's health. Also in February, Harris insisted, "Our president is in good shape, in good health, and is ready to lead in our second term." Fox News
Harris raising money for fund that busts murderers and rapists out of jail . . . Vice President Kamala Harris is actively raising money for a bail fund that busts violent criminals from jail as her nascent presidential campaign signals her candidacy will lean heavily on her roots as a tough-on-crime former prosecutor. Harris urged her followers to donate to the Minnesota Freedom Fund in June 2020 as Black Lives Matter rioters wreaked havoc. Harris's fundraising efforts helped the fundraise more than $41 million in 2020, but the group only used a small fraction of that bounty—$210,000—to bail rioters out of jail. The remaining funds helped post bail for violent criminals. Washington Free Beaccon
Harris refuses to preside over Netanyahu's speech to Congress . . . Vice President Harris has declined to preside over the Senate chamber when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses a joint meeting of Congress on Wednesday afternoon, according to two people familiar with her plans who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations. Netanyahu, who has clashed with President Biden over his handling of the war in Gaza, is expected to meet with Harris at another point during his visit, however, according to a U.S. official. He is also expected to meet with Biden on Thursday. Washington Post
Kamala told migrants 'do not come' to US — and 8 million showed up anyway . . . In perhaps her most famous speech as vice president, which she made in June 2021 after she was given responsibility for securing the US border, Harris tried to convince migrants to stop flooding into the US in the wake of President Biden's 2020 election victory. "I want to be clear to folks in this region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States-Mexico border, do not come. Do not come," she said. New York Post

Biden scheduled for White House return Tuesday . . . President Biden will be back at the White House on Tuesday for the first time since he announced he was abandoning his re-election campaign and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. Biden is scheduled to leave his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware — where he had been recovering from COVID-19 — in the afternoon and arrive at the Executive Mansion by 2:30 p.m., according to his schedule. The 81-year-old president was originally expected to leave the beach town, where he had been under quarantine, on Monday to hit the campaign trail. New York Post
He hasn't been seen for days, sparking "proof of life" demands.
White House, Democrats dig in against calls for Biden to resign . . . House officials and Democratic lawmakers rebuffed calls Monday for President Biden to resign because of doubts about his ability to serve as commander in chief after he bowed out of his reelection campaign. cCalls for Mr. Biden to quit the presidency expanded beyond Republican ranks. Filmmaker and liberal activist Michael Moore said Mr. Biden's resignation would help Ms. Harris defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump. Washington Times
Pelosi was prepared to unleash hell on Biden if he stayed in the race . . . Senior Biden officials were preparing for Pelosi to ramp up her behind-scenes push against Biden this week before he dropped out. These aides feared Pelosi would publicly call for Biden to drop out or even release confidential Democratic polling showing Biden's bleak re-election odds to the public, Politico reported. Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries were three of the leading Democrats who helped push Biden over the edge, Politico noted. She was making it clear to the President that he was finished and that his exit from the race could happen "the easy way or the hard way," a Democrat familiar with private discussions told the outlet. Daily Caller
Secret Service director infuriates lawmakers with vague answers on Trump shooting . . . Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle utterly failed Monday to reassure lawmakers that she was still the best person for the job after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, instead prompting members from both parties to call for her resignation. During the nearly five-hour long hearing in front of the Oversight Committee, members of the typically polarized committee united in questioning how Cheatle could remain on the job and lambasted her for evading inquiries — on everything from the failures that preceded the Trump rally shooting to general questions about the impact of gun violence. Politico
Nancy Mace to force vote on impeaching Secret Service Director Cheatle . . . Rep. Nancy Mace is forcing the House to vote this week on whether to impeach Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle after she refused lawmakers' calls for her to resign. The South Carolina Republican, reading the text of the impeachment resolution on the floor, said Ms. Cheatle "failed to protect Donald J. Trump and other attendees" at the former president's July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Washington Times
Rep. Crockett asks if 'White male' shooter not considered a threat because of racial 'bias'. . . Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, appeared to imply that racial bias may have been why the Secret Service was slow to deem Thomas Crooks a threat on the day he shot at Trump. Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle testified on Monday before the House Oversight Committee. Cheatle was grilled by Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike. While little is known about Crooks' motivations, his identity as a White male was brought center stage when it was Crockett's turn to speak. Fox News

Musk vowed to destroy "the woke mind virus" after he was "tricked" into allowing son's transition. . . Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla and SpaceX, told Dr. Jordan B. Peterson on Monday that he was "tricked into" allowing one of his sons to undergo gender procedures, saying his child was "killed" by the "woke mind virus." Musk called "gender-affirming care," the Left's description of the procedures, "a terrible euphemism." "It's really child mutilation and sterilization," Musk said. "It's evil. You're taking kids who are far below the age of consent." "It's very possible for adults to manipulate children who are having an actual identity crisis into believing that they are the wrong gender," he added. Daily Wire

U.S. would defeat China in a war over Taiwan, Joints Chiefs head says . . . The U.S. fields the most powerful army in the world and would defeat China if war breaks out over Taiwan, according to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown, who became the president's most senior military adviser on Oct. 1, said a conflict with China is neither imminent nor inevitable, but that the U.S. military must be ready if war breaks out. Drug middlemen making medicines more expensive . . . The drug middlemen that promise to control costs have instead steered patients toward higher-priced medicines and affiliated pharmacies—steps that increase spending and reduce patient choice, a House investigation found. The pharmacy-benefit managers, or PBMs, have devised formularies of preferred medicines that encouraged use of higher-priced drugs over lower-priced alternatives. The PBMs have also made patients pay more to use their local pharmacy rather than a mail-order pharmacy affiliated with the manager. Wall Street Journal

Sharks off Brazil coast test positive for cocaine . . . Sharks off the coast of Brazil have tested positive for cocaine, scientists say. Marine biologists tested 13 Brazilian sharpnose sharks taken from the shores near Rio de Janeiro and found they tested for high levels of cocaine in their muscles and livers. Experts believe the cocaine is making its way into the waters via illegal labs where the drug is manufactured or through excrement of drug users. BBC
These sharks are freebasing in the South Atlantic and everybody knows it and it's got to stop.
