Trump tells Jewish Republicans 'Israel is gone' if Harris wins . . . Former President Donald Trump told a crowd of Jewish Republicans that if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the presidential election this fall that "Israel is gone" and said Jewish Democrats who support Biden should have their "head examined.""If they win, Israel is gone. Just remember that. If they win, Israel is gone," Trump said to the Republican Jewish Coalition on Thursday. "You can forget about Israel, that's what's going to happen. So they have to get out on Nov. 5 and they have to vote for Trump. If they don't, I think it's going to be a very terrible situation." Politico

Judge Merchan to decide whether to postpone Trump sentencing . . . The judge overseeing Donald J. Trump's Manhattan criminal case plans to rule on Friday about whether to postpone Mr. Trump's sentencing until after Election Day, a court filing shows. Mr. Trump's lawyers had asked the judge — Justice Juan M. Merchan, who presided over the former president's seven-week trial this spring — to delay the sentencing, which is scheduled for Sept 18. Mr. Trump, the first American president to become a felon, faces up to four years in prison, though Justice Merchan is likely to impose a shorter sentence, or probation. New York Times
Judge Chutkan to allow prosecutors to lay out Jan. 6 case against Trump before Election Day . . . During her first significant foray into the case since a fight over presidential immunity reached the Supreme Court and waylaid the proceedings for nine months, Chutkan declined to consider setting a new trial date, calling it an "exercise in futility." However, Chutkan appeared inclined to give prosecutors a chance to lay out damaging evidence against Trump within the next few weeks — a timeline that would coincide with the ramp-up of early voting and the critical final weeks of the presidential campaign. Harris wanted to give drug dealers three arrests before charging them . . . As District Attorney of San Francisco, Kamala Harris proposed a program for drug dealers that would have allowed criminals to only be charged for selling narcotics on their third arrest. San Francisco's chief of police at the time sent an October 24, 2005 letter to Harris declining to participate in the program, "Operation Safe Streets," according to a copy of the letter obtained by The Daily Wire. CNN calls out Harris for using Trump's border wall in campaign videos . . . Vice President Kamala Harris, after years of decrying former President Donald Trump's border wall as racist and un-American, is now using footage featuring that very wall in political ads for her 2024 presidential campaign — and CNN caught her at it. "Out Front" anchor Erin Burnett ran with the story, noting Harris' previous criticism of Trump's border policies in general, and the wall specifically. She went on to point out that Harris took to using images of the border wall when it became clear that the American people opposed her open borders policy. Daily Wire
Harris hires radical climate adviser who wants to ban gas stoves . . . Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has a new "climate engagement director": Camila Thorndike, a veteran figure in the far-left climate movement who has suggested she will not have children over fear of climate change and most recently worked for a group at the center of efforts to ban gas stoves. Thorndike served for two years in various senior positions at Rewiring America, a climate-focused nonprofit that has advocated for the United States to rapidly electrify its entire economy—from the transportation and manufacturing sectors, to the residential and power sectors. Harris was more liberal than 99% of the Senate . . . The website voteview.com, operated by the University of California, Los Angeles, scored Ms. Harris as more liberal than 99% of the Senate during her tenure from 2017 to 2021. "While Harris may campaign as a moderate, analysis of her economic record does not support that label," wrote Judge Glock, director of research and a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor at the institute's publication, City Journal. "In her time in the Senate, Harris positioned herself on the far left of a Democratic Party already moving sharply to the left." Washington Times

Harris raises three times as much as Trump in August . . . The coordinated campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris raised $361 million in August, nearly three times as much as the $130 million collected by the coordinated effort of her Republican rival, Donald Trump, giving her a clear financial edge with two months to go before Election Day, her campaign announced Friday. Harris's larger campaign, which boasts hundreds more staff, dozens more offices and a bigger advertising budget than Trump, also ended the month with more cash on hand. Washington Post
Tim Walz disappears . . . Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz rose to prominence by making the rounds in mainstream media interviews, but since being named Kamala Harris's running mate, the "folksy", "midwestern dad" has been missing from the airwaves. From July 22 to Aug. 6, about two weeks before he was added to the ticket, Walz appeared on MSNBC, PBS, CNN and Fox News a total of ten times, an analysis by Newsbusters' Curtis Houck, shared with the Daily Caller, showed. Since Harris chose Walz as her running mate on Aug. 6, the governor has not appeared on the networks he flocked to during the vetting process, according to Houck's analysis. Daily Caller
Biden admits Inflation Reduction Act misnamed . . . President Joe Biden on Thursday admitted that the $700 billion Inflation Reduction Act, which did not reduce inflation and included $369 billion for green energy initiatives, was wrongly named. Biden's remark came at an event in Westby, Wisconsin. He called the Inflation Reduction Act "the most significant climate change law ever," adding, "by the way, it is a $369 billion bill, it's called the–we we we should've named it what it was." The Penn Wharton Budget Model found the bill would drop inflation by .1 percent over five years. Breitbart

University of Vermont banned whites from applying for position . . . The University of Vermont solicited applications for a postdoctoral fellowship that was only open to "BIPOC/POC scholars," according to a job posting obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, raising questions about the school's compliance with civil rights law as universities face scrutiny over the racial breakdown of their newest classes. A posting—which has since been removed—indicated that the Henderson-Harris fellowship, which has existed since the 1990s, "specifically seeks applicants" who "identify as people/persons of color." Law school offers course on rise of "Authoritarian Christian Nationalism . . . A top public university's law school is offering a class this fall that aims to explore the U.S.' political shift towards "authoritarian Christianist nationalism" in the "age of Trump," according to an email obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The University of Colorado Boulder's Law School class, titled "Statutory Interpretation," is offered to second-year law students and will hinge on topics of relevance in the current election season, including former president Donald Trump's legal battles and the Supreme Court's supposed "legitimacy crisis." Navy secretary broke the law when he endorsed Biden . . . Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro broke the law by publicly endorsing the reelection of President Joe Biden and criticizing former President Donald Trump in several statements he made while on official duty overseas, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel said Thursday. In a report to the White House, the watchdog agency said Del Toro's comments about the presidential election came in a BBC interview and when he was responding to questions after a speech in London. While he later reported the remarks, his unwillingness to take responsibility for them is troubling, the special counsel said. Associated Press

Putin backs Harris . . . Russian President Vladimir Putin said he wants Vice President Kamala Harris to win the 2024 election. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the Russian president reiterated his support for President Joe Biden and said he would follow his advice by supporting Harris. "I told you, our favorite, if I may say so, was the current president, Mr. Biden. He was removed from the race, but he advised all his supporters to support Ms. Harris. So we will do it as well. We will root for her," he said, drawing applause and laughter from the audience. Washington Examiner

Trump would tap Musk for government efficiency commission . . . Donald Trump outlined a suite of economic proposals in a speech here Thursday, including formally introducing a government efficiency commission to be headed by Elon Musk, cutting the corporate tax rate to 15% for companies that make products in the U.S. and creating a sovereign-wealth fund. The Republican presidential nominee also said Thursday he would rescind certain unspent funds appropriated during the Biden administration, seeking to land a blow to a signature clean-energy law, and proposed barring people in the country illegally from obtaining a mortgage. The father of the 14-year-old student accused of opening fire at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the deadly shooting, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Thursday. The criminal trial of first son Hunter Biden on federal tax charges was expected to get underway in normal order Thursday, until the younger Biden said he intended to plead guilty to the charges in a shocking twist. Special Counsel David Weiss charged President Biden's son with three felonies and six misdemeanors concerning $1.4 million in owed taxes that have since been paid. Weiss alleged a pattern by which Hunter did not pay his federal income taxes while also filing false tax returns. Fox News

Taylor Swift did not sit with Brittany Mahomes as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens 27-20 in the NFL's season opener on Thursday night. It comes after the singer's legion of fans begged her to snub the wife of star Chiefs quarterback Patrick because she appeared to endorse Donald Trump in the upcoming US election. As they took their seats on the NFL's opening night that saw the Chiefs play the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium, both appeared to be in different suites. Venezuela's president Nicolas Maduro declares Christmas to begin in October . . . Venezuela's authoritarian President Nicolas Maduro has declared Christmas will start three months early in the country, in a move which some have suggested was made to further his own political goals. Venezuela has been gripped by protests over July's contested presidential election, which saw Mr. Maduro re-elected for a third term despite global skepticism over the results. Sky News
Maduro also said summer will now be winter and the number 5 will be known as "the number 4."
