Black and Latino voter defections make Harris more dependent on white, suburban voters . . . In the final weeks of the presidential campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris is contending with erosion within the Democratic coalition that put Barack Obama and Joe Biden in the White House, and growing more dependent on white voters who historically aligned more with Republicans. Black and Latino voters, two essential pillars of that coalition, have drifted away from Democrats in striking numbers. The defections, if they hold to Election Day, would make Ms. Harris's path to victory far more difficult, complicating her efforts both in big cities like Philadelphia and Detroit and across Sun Belt battlegrounds such as Georgia and Arizona. Vance spars with ABC host Raddatz over Venezuelan gangs in Colorado . . . Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance sparred Sunday with ABC News host Martha Raddatz, who downplayed the threat Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua poses to the Colorado city of Aurora. Members of the violent gang, Raddatz said, have only targeted "a handful of apartment complexes" there. "Only, Martha, do you hear yourself?" he asked. "Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs, and Donald Trump is the problem and not Kamala Harris's open border?" Washington Free Beacon

Are we going to be a nation of law and order? Or wide open borders? Which is it? Because it's time to pick a side." Fox News

DOJ tells four police, fire departments that it's racist to expect employees to pass basic exam . . . The Biden-Harris Department of Justice has undertaken a slew of lawsuits against local police and fire departments alleging that it is racist to require hires entrusted with public safety to know basic math. The lawsuits undermine Kamala Harris's attempts to brand herself as a moderate in the final weeks of the presidential campaign, with the suits both suggesting a dim view of blacks by the administration and employing the theory of "disparate impact," the radical theory that holds that anytime there are statistical racial disparities, racism must be the cause — even if no one can explain how. Ukraine faces bleak winter as Russia ramps up assaults and gains ground . . . With Western weapons deliveries limited and slow, Ukraine is facing a bleak winter. Its outnumbered and outgunned military is slowly but steadily losing ground on the main eastern front, trying to exact a heavy toll on Russia while minimizing its own losses. Russian missile-and-drone attacks targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure are overwhelming the country's air defenses, forcing rolling blackouts across the country that could worsen in winter.
