Dear Diogenes: The fall I wrote you about in my last email was a little worse than I realized. I broke at least four ribs and messed up my hip. In the last couple of weeks, I have been in hospitals three different times and now in something called a skilled nursing home. I have continued doing work and interviews from these facilities, so you may occasionally hear strange background sounds. However, I assure you that this isn't enough to keep me from putting out the email blasts that I send out once every two weeks. One op-ed I wrote last week discussed Biden's false claims about crime in his fairwell speech. Once again, Biden was claiming that violent crime had plummeted during this administration and was now at a 50-year low. Whether you look at the FBI Uniform Crime Reports or the Bureau of Justice Statistic's National Crime Victimization Survey, Biden is wrong. After the fires in California, a number of politicians called for prosecuting firms for price gouging. So I wrote an op-ed for Real Clear Politics in defense of price gouging, and how preventing prices from rising hurts residents and makes it harder for them to recover from the fires. Reporter Sharyl Attkisson asked the FBI about our findings that the FBI had changed their 2022 violent crime rate from a drop to an Increase. While the FBI seems incapable of giving a simple, straightforward answer, they didn't deny the change. I have done a wide range of interviews that discussed the cost and benefits of mass deportations on the Lars Larson national radio show and on Real America's Voice, crime by illegal aliens, and Biden's commutation of the death sentences for 37 or the 40 people on the federal government's death row. I also appeared on the NewsMax to discuss the New Years Day terrorist attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas. We have continued to collect examples of how television shows perpetuate biased images of guns (and I have to thank our readers for pointing out some of these cases for me). The new examples have NBC's Chicago PD showing yet another supposed instance where a defensive gun use resulted in the death of the man using the gun to stop the crime, another NBC show where the stars of the show say, "I hate guns," and from CBS yet another case where criminals are using machine guns (in this case, supposed stopping traffic on a Los Angeles freeway and firing machine guns all over the place). Our research has gotten news coverage over the last couple of weeks at Fox News, The Blaze, American Thinker, Austin American-Statesman, and The Federalist. We have updated our list of defensive gun uses by people legally carrying concealed handguns for October 2024. For fun, I asked ChatGPT and Grok2 to summarize my research in "More Guns, Less Crime." If you haven't already seen it, please watch our new video with John Stossel, which covers our new research showing errors in the FBI's active shooting reports. We need help getting our research out. It doesn't us any good to do all this work if people don't see it. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much. We need your support to continue doing the work that we do. Our end of the year donations are I don't think that there is any organization with as small of a budget that regularly produces as much as we do. Thank you very much. . Research . Op-eds .
